I'm missing blogging more than you think. But man does not live by blog alone and blogs don't pay the bills - an important thing to remember while I'm trying to secure a line of revenue with at least some predictability. Which isn't easy, but I knew that.
What I'm saying is that I will be back on this blog before you can say "Obama". (talking of which two bumper stickers of note - "We will Barack you" and "Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend's wife for President"). Or for that matter "McCain" (yes, I'm still impressed with his straight talk).
But I vacillate, oscillate and digress. So, getting back..
The prolific Lekhni (now there's a blogger who blogs, and how) has tagged me for doing some recycling. The tag - as with others I've done in the past - ends here, but if you want to share that warm, taggy feeling, go ahead.
I have to recycle 5 posts on 5 key words as below.
Family - The big marriage in Delhi, a post I loved writing. Man, how I wish I could spend some more time in Delhi. Some day, when it isn't too cold. But who am I kidding? Bombay is now colder than Delhi . Guahaha.
Friends - My blog meet posts here and here. What a crazy gang. Must do that again too.
Yourself - The most personal one was the one about the break. I've always wanted to write on my experience on shaadi.com, but well..that's there with 100 other posts on 100 other things that never made it to print.
Love - Zilch, but that doesn't make me an unromantic person, does it?
Anything I like - Easy enough. Movies, lingo and TV on DVD.
It's a nice tag and you should do it. Spread the link love, I says, spread that link love.

The Eight things tag
Filmiholic, with whom I share the common love for movies, tagged me here on 10 things you hate about me...or..hang on its "8 random things about me".
She tags, I take it forward and here goes nothing.
1. I'm a control freak. I'm trying to control it, but it gets tough.
2. I once told Vidhu Vinod Chopra "You think its worth this?". "It" being "1942, A love story" and "this" being the wait in a long - and I'm talking China Wall long - queue of wretched people (self included) drenched in the rain clocking 4 hours, waiting to book the tickets at Metro Cinema in Dhobi Talao. I came in the line at 10am (which, I was told, had started at 6.30am) and left at 6pm for booking two tickets for opening weekend of this movie. VVC walked in at about 2pm. With his brother, gloating at the line. Saala, he just smiled at me. I loved the movie, I just totally freaked on it at that time...that time being 1994. Note to bacha party: Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Manisha, RD Burman and Vidhu Vinod was a huge combination at that time. Oh, and the very next day I won two tickets for the same movie, courtesy some competition. Life.
3. I'm a big mobile phone freak, but strictly Nokia. I currently have the N95, prior to which I had N80, prior to which the N70. I love technology, but you won't find me dead with a Blackberry. I've been hoping, wishing to write on these devices, but damn waqt. And I've still not been able to figure out where (or if) Macs have a backspace key (help needed).
4. I've been mentioned in Rashmi Uday Singh's Good Food Guide (I think it was 1997 or 1998). Self and the blogger known as Purush (hey there dude, hope you had a good flight back) scoured Bandra, Khar and Sion Koliwada to cover a section of the book called "Budget Bites". Budget being Rs50 for a wholesome meal. Ho boy, we were such kids then. But heck, we had a blast.
5. All three movies mentioned in the "fav movies" part of my profile, star Kevin Spacey. American Beauty, Se7en and Usual Suspects. Absolutely love all of them. And he's the man. His recent decision to quit movies has just made me admire him a bit more.
6. My, ahem, profile was active on Shaadi.com for almost a year - most of 2005. I got married in Dec-05, but no, not via Shaadi. There's a whole single life that's gone unblogged. Ah, those were the days. There are some interesting encounters I had on Shaadi.com, but someday.
7. When the roads are not very crowded, I can make my car go from the middle of Peddar Road all the way to Babulnath without pressing the pedal. I kid you not. It's a downward slope and all other cars behaving normally, you can go the distance (just under 2kms) without gas. My secret now revealed.
8. While reading "The Alchemist" in a tent in Diskit in Leh in 2004, the solitary bulb in my tent went off slowly. It kinda just faded out. I was surrounded by pitch black darkness. The only sound was that of gurgling water in a nearby brook. It was one of the most beautiful of sounds I've ever heard in my life. I won't forget that moment, ever. I could've died in that darkness and I wouldn't have had a single regret.
And now to pass on the tag, I nominate some of my favouritest bloggers
Kusum
Sughosh
Punds and
Chronicus Skepticus
I'm aware that this tag is hazaar old, but its fun. If you've already done it, oye come on yaar, one more time. Enjoy it guys.
And ya, there are some rules
------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.
3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
4. If you fail to do this within eight hours, you will not reach Third Series or attain your most precious goals for at least two more lifetimes. (yeah right, just like you get a date with Jessica Biehl if you do it in eight)

Thinking blogger tag
That kind man, Punds has given me a "Thinking Blogger Award". Thanks Punds, as always, you remain a generous soul.
Now, rather than tagging others, I'm leaving it open to everyone who reads this. Kinda like this post.
So, here are the rules.
===================================
* This award was started here.
* You have to award five others whose blog you think deserve this award.
* Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging.
* If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
* Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
* Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.
* Please, remember to tag blogs with real merits, i.e. relative content, and above all — blogs that really get you thinking!
===================================
The blogs that make me think are easy really. I've already blogrolled them. Here ya go. Why do I like them? Go figure, here are the links.
Dilip D'Souza
Govindraj Ethiraj
Curious Gawker
Dhoomk2
Punds
Abodh
Filmiholic
Purush
Kusum Rohra
Before you protest, here's the thing. I'm damn tied up in work. I'd love to write about why I love these blogs. I'd love to give many more links because I think there are a whole lotta other blogs that make me think.
But honestly yaar. The discovery is much more fun. That too with a clean slate*. So, what say? what's the latest blog that made you think? Let me know.
* Sheesh, I kill myself..discovering things with a clean slate in your mind which, at the end of the day, can be really a whole new world of learning things that, one way or the other, can make you see things in a whole new light, adding new meanings and giving different colors to things that you already knew....(why this? because).

Salaam Z-listers
Z-listers. No, doesn't sound good at all, considering the brilliance that goes with that term "A-lister". I am referring to bloggers.
There are some under-rated blogs that for one reason or another don't get the kind of attention they deserve. Kinda like real life, isn't it ? Or like movies, I mean come on, do you know honestly remember the names of the other guys in the Lagaan team? Ya, ya, you keep seeing them in other movies in other roles. But honestly, what review talks of the talented lot of Akhilendra Mishra, Dayashankar Pandey, Yashpal Sharma, etc. etc. ?
Or hear it from the man himself, Robert Scoble, who says
Then something started here at Mack Collier's blog, the Viral Garden.

Here's the deal: In an effort to bring more link-love to those blogs that I feel aren't getting their due, I've created a small list of blogs below that I've linked to. The idea is to create a meme built around giving link-love to the blogs that deserve it, and hopefully turn Technorati's system of using a blog's # of links to determine its 'authority', on its ear."

Two tags done
These two pending tags have been lying gathering dust. My apologies for a late response to those who passed it to me, but here goes..
TAG 1.
Gaurav Mishra, who asked "Which movie characters should have had blogs and in what ways would their blogs have changed the movie plots". Interesting one, although I refuse to understand how blogging would help change movie plots (unless their blogs would be private?). Here's what I think
1. Keyser Soze in Usual Suspects - Perhaps we'd have the next caper of this revered Hollywood baddie ? I doubt his blog would change the plot. He killed them all.
2. John Doe in Se7en - He's uncredited in the movie, but would that be a great blog to read or what. And I would not want to change that plot even one bit.
3. Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi - I though this movie was just too namby-pamby and the least liked among all the six. So if Darth Vader blogged maybe Luke and Hans could have actually killed him in The Empire Strikes Back (the best of all the six). And hey, Hans could've avoided the entire silica freezing thing.
TAG 2.
Kusum Rohra who...oh great...asked some 500 questions, which I'm shortening to these. Sheesh man...you'd think that your blogging saves the world or something. Have a look here..
Q1. Are you happy/satisfied with your blog, with its content and look? Does your family know about your blog?
Answer: No. Yes.
Q2. Do you feel embarrassed to let your friends know about your blog or you just consider it as a private thing?
Answer: No. No.
Q3. Did blogs cause positive changes in your thoughts?
Answer: Yeah right. I now thank the Good Lord above for the skies and the seas. Praise be to the Lord. Hallelujah. I have seen the light.
Q4. Do you only open the blogs of those who comment on your blog or you love to go and discover more by yourself?
Answer: Yes. Yes. What's with the "love to go and discover" - are we talking Alice in Wonderland ? And duh, why do both have to be mutually exclusive. Kuch bhi.
Q5. What does visitors counter mean to you? Do you care about putting it in your blog?
Answer: A lot, but I have to get over it. Look below.
Q6. Did you try to imagine your fellow bloggers and give them real pictures?
Answer: Oh great, now voyeurism. Yes, but only the women.
Q7. Admit. Do you think there is a real benefit for blogging?
Answer: Hang on. How do you define "real" and "benefit" ? Lots of activities give me real benefits, but I wouldn't name them here.
Q8. Do you think that bloggers society is isolated from real world or interacts with events?
Answer: Oh ya right. Houston, we have a problem.
Q9. Does criticism annoy you or do you feel it's a normal thing?
Answer: Yes. No.
Q10. Do you fear some political blogs and avoid them?
Answer: Yes. I avoid the blogs of Darth Vader, Keyser Soze and John Doe (also ref Tag 1).
Q11. Did you get shocked by the arrest of some bloggers?
Answer: No. He asked for it when he started that tag titled "Top 10 fantasies involving Simi Garewal and/or Himesh Reshammiya".
Q12. Did you think about what will happen to your blog after you die?
Answer: You mean you can't blog in heaven ?
Q13. What do you like to hear? What's the song you might like to put a link to in your blog?
Answer: I like to hear that this is the last question. No, there's no "the song" I'd link to on my blog, but do check my profile please.
Needless to say, both tags end here.

Further proof of silliness
As if silly photos weren't enough, now we've got to give proof of the kind of people who read our blogs. This will only prove something we already know, i.e. if bloggers are self-obsessed losers without a life, then those who read their blogs are worse.
Thanks to this tag from Gaurav Mishra, I present below the search terms used by people that got them to my blog. It's great to know that for all my efforts, I get visited by weirdos and lonely despos looking for hottest expose, underwear and a Hindi 007.
1. "C grade movies in Mumbai" and - get this - "Z grade movies in Mumbai" got the searcher here. If 'C' grade is truly bad, how bad can a 'Z' grade movie be ?. I think someone was searching for Fanaa reviews (incidentally the term "kajol cleavage" can also get you to my blog.)
2. "Bombay girls" landed here. I like the bluntness in this guy's quest. Leaves nothing to the imagination.
3. "Hottest pics of Zeenat Aman in satyam shivam sundaram" lands up here. No, I don't know what that post has to do with that search phrase. Shabbash google.
4. "Madhuri Dixit expose" and "Madhuri Dixit underwear" expectedly lands up here. Between Zeenat Aman and Madhuri Dixit, I think we just crossed a decade of Hindi cinema. Good history lesson.
5. "prince was fall in a fit in kurukshetra" lands up here. The truth now revealed. Prince had a fit and then fell in the well. Coming up next- Jill felling after.
6. "Hindu 007 agent movies jokes" lands up here. Even the RSS would be proud to have a desi James Bhaand.
- and finally, here is a truly bizarre one. What was this guy thinking when he searched..
7. "What is the name of the animals that eat peoples bad dreams" which landed here. Brr..am scared of being eaten up now when I have a bad dream. Bhoot.
With tag done, I am now furthering this misery to Parijat, Vulturo, Chronicus Skepticus and the two bloggers who had conveniently sneaked out of an earlier tag - i.e. Punds and Kusum Rohra. (Come on, this one you can do, right ?)

The silly photo tag - this time for real
I've been reminded that I've not participated in the...er..."true spirit" of this tag passed on to me by Vulturo (via Amit), and also been threatened with dire consequences if I don't fall in line.
So, I've come up with something else, which should surely fit the bill.

That's me doing the Peacock number. It's an office party and as it happens in these kind of situations, someone from somewhere got peacock feathers. Various people were then invited, coaxed, cajoled, coerced, harried and harassed to wear these on their back and do..well, the peacock dance. The above was my turn. No, it didn't start raining later, but fun - and hangover - came.
I think this entitles me to one tag and I tag Dhoomk2. Over to you.
And finally, for a nice list (with photos) of other bloggers looking silly, go to Gaurav Mishra's post here.

This time its silly
(Update - also read this)
Ok, first let me make this clear - the sole purpose of this blog is not to be part of tags.
I mean as if this and this weren't enough, now thanks to Vulturo (via Amit), I have to upload a "silly photo" of myself. So here we go-

Before you protest, please note I've stuck to the rules. That is me there and it is silly - I mean come on, you did laugh when you saw it, right ?. History - 2003 Geography - Colombo.
And now since I've done this deed, its time for me to tag. Hmm..who shall it be now.. ah! why don't I tag back Kusum Rohra and Punds. Abhi aapun fittoos.

Tagged again
This time by that rascal Kusum Rohra. It's almost the same as the one I did earlier, but what the hell... And honestly, this is the last time I'm doing this..
I am thinking that its a Monday tomorrow and I don't like Mondays.
I said ghanta when someone said that K Jo's movies are about us. (Uma - brilliant post).
I want a bungalow at Worli Sea Face (Grrr..didn't I just say this in an earlier tag?)
I wish more bloggers had come to the Bloggers Meet last night. I was disappointed.
I miss (and here I agree with Kusum) - music. Big time. Let me say it again - I miss music. For whatever it offers at work - Thank God for pandora.
I hear Worldspace, in the time I can.
I wonder when Worldspace will launch car audio. I also wonder when I'll make enough to retire, but hell, Himeessh might win a Grammy before that.
I regret zilch except my anger.
I am sleepy. Where did this Sunday go man ?
I dance rarely
I sing never
I cry because of the torture Kusum is putting me through
I am not going to pass this tag to anyone
I write because I love to (and Kusum you copied my answer)
I confuse a lot of things a lot of times
I need to write more
I finish this tag. Yes !

Tagged
Tagged by Punds, so here goes
I'm thinking about - first how to complete this tag, then what to write for my next post.
I said: Ghanta when someone said KANK will be worth it
I want to: break free
I wish: I could buy a bungalow on Worli Sea Face
I hear: "Everything you want" and "Forever" by Vertical Horizon..are they awesome songs or what.
I wonder: if I can finish my work in time today
I regret: my anger
I am: a bit too rude for some people
I dance: Rarely, if at all.
I sing: chance hi nahin
I cry: because this tag is still not over
I'm not always: patient
I make with my hands: type, type, type
I write: because I love to
I confuse: myself and at times others
I need: to write more
And finally: this tag is over and no I'm not tagging anyone after this !
