This was the moment yesterday.
From the NYT
After a political lifetime of keeping her emotions secret, why was Mrs. Clinton finally letting her guard down? Was it a spontaneous outburst or a calculated show? Was Mrs. Clinton using her gender to win sympathy, or was she the victim of a double standard that allowed male candidates to cry — several have on the trail — but not female ones?Don't miss the last line of that piece. If she does become President, that is going to remain one debated moment in US politics.
Meanwhile, fatigue shows, even for Barack Obama. From the HuffPo
"I've been campaigning a lot," he said. "And you know I say, 'The time for change has come.' The other day I said, 'The time for come has changed.' And I have to admit, everybody still clapped."But my moment of the day had to be John McCain's moving victory speech, given among roars of "Mac is back".
The people of New Hampshire have told us again that they do not send us to Washington to serve our self-interest, but to serve theirs. They don't send us to fight each other for our own political ambitions; but to fight together our real enemies. They don't send us to Washington to stroke our egos; but to help them keep this beautiful, bountiful, blessed country safe, prosperous and proud.
And don't miss the last line of that speech either.

McCain's speech, as delivered by him, was actually quite boring (he kept reading verbatim from his notes and delivered it without energy). Obama's concesson speech, on the other hand, was awe-inspiring! The guy can really belt out a speech!
Good to know you're following the elections in the US. This is perhaps the most interesting election cycle ever...and even with hilary's win yesterday it's looking that Obama might, just might, pull off an upset win for the Dem nomination. And that would be history-setting, not to talk about absolutely great!
Purush - Good to see you here. I saw the speech here, and actually it was good to see a politician not to go into overdrive, but just say it straight (which is McCain's plank). Besides the memory of Howard Dean ain't going away to soon. So, I certainly didn't find the speech boring. There's always something about a comeback kid.
Didn't catch the Obama speech, but do read this WSJ article by - of all the people - Karl Rove. Nice take on Obama's charisma.
Tough call isn't it? Do you go with someone as established and experienced as Clinton who isn't scoring so much on being liked; or with Obama whose has a plank of bring fresh, new and without baggage, who has charisma...but no track record of anything.
You bet it's gonna be the most interesting election ever. Do blog on it! Thanks for the comment.
Hey! You were missing at the last blog meet and since I do not have any other means of getting in touch with you I am leaving a completely off topic comment here.
What's up with you? How are you enjoying the sabbatical you have taken? The offer for a bunkd is still open, I have started creating a model bank. The reason I am doing it is 'cos I am a photographer but then I like to keep options open. Versatility is key to everything everywhere these days. Hope to catch you soon.
Hey Sumit - good to hear from you and thanks for the comment. I've replied over at your blog. Hope to catch up with you at the next blog meet!
