In Obama we trust

From a month-old NYT article titled "Obama, Gospel and Verse"
Out of the blue I asked, ''Have you ever read Reinhold Niebuhr?''

Obama's tone changed. ''I love him. He's one of my favorite philosophers.''

So I asked, What do you take away from him?

''I take away,'' Obama answered in a rush of words, ''the compelling idea that there's serious evil in the world, and hardship and pain. And we should be humble and modest in our belief we can eliminate those things. But we shouldn't use that as an excuse for cynicism and inaction. I take away the sense we have to make these efforts knowing they are hard, and not swinging from naïve idealism to bitter realism.''

Here's hoping the Senator from Illinois makes it.

And I envy this man for having heard him speak at Selma, Alabama. Or Al-Obama.

BVN - too long if you ask me!

Of course its too early on..but I admire him for what he represents (hope, leadership, what he stands for). And just for that, I hope he makes it. Its just too long a race to call now, but I think everyone's watching him closely.

O"bambi" will be eaten alive by primary-voting season. Especially by the Equivocator. I hope I am wrong, though.

Purush - What if Gore comes back? I hear Gore-Obama combination is a killer, yes? And you seriously think Hillary's gonna "eat" Obama (if you say O'bambi' again, I'll know you're a closet neocon my friend! haaa). I know she's widely expected to get the ticket, but man...if she eats him alive, then there's not much hope, is there? I hope you're wrong too ma man.

Gore could come back, but I doubt Obama (O"bambi" was more a reference to his inexperience, I doubt if even Wolfowitz would still want to identify himself as a neo-con anymore!) would want to run as his VP.
Anyways, it's too early in the game to guess anything, but it's going to be interesting...

Purush - I thought the 'inexperience' part about Obama was being seen more a 'fresh start without baggage'...Anyways, I think we're on the same wavelength here.

Anil P - yes..very sad, I'm having a tough time at work (loads happening), so I've not been able to put a post on anything, leave alone Bombay! Thank you for the reminder, I will get on to something once I'm done with work pressures!

Far far better than the alternatives - Clinton just spouts political niceties anyway.
