Go 92.5FM - hear these voices

My dissent on Go 92.5FM's decision to go Hindi has already been posted. Now, there's also an online petition on the issue.

If you find Jaggu and Tarana in Hindi a tad forced/unnatural, if you're sick of Hee-mess-bhai's songs and if you want more of James Blunt, Pussycat Dolls, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, U2 (and more), then do click on the link given below. It's time for them to hear our voice.

"Don't GO Hindi" Petition

Hey! I didnt know Go 92.5 was turning all Hindi. Damn!
Read your previous post about Bombay. And as i happen to live in both cities (not at the same time though:p) i do appreciate what you've written. I have grown to like Bombay too. End of the day, i would rather take the word of someone like you, or my friend Vikram, about how great Bombay is, 'cos you would really know. My problem is with people like Shobhaa De who'd turn a total blind eye to the city's problems and turn their wrath on Delhi. I've seen corruption in Bombay too. I've been fleeced by Taxi and Auto wallahs in Bombay, there have been two rapes by policemen in that city...I could go on and on, but that's not the point. These problems are in any Indian city. And cant just be wished away. And there are of course, day to day realities (in both cities) that people like you and me would be more aware of than Shobhaa De!
And Delhi being the capital city, is frankly, a representative of India. Its the seat of power and sees tonnes of foreign dignataries landing up every year. Last one being George Bush. And it makes one feel proud that they carry back a great impression of our country through its capital. They don't go back and say but Bombay is a better city over Delhi! And that's about it.
The debate can go on forever...And it should also include cities like Jaipur that are deteriorating by the day and have more problems than it can ever hope to deal with.
I really do find this Bombay-Delhi debate most juvenile. And our media should do some growing up. And fast!
:)

Hey Vij - thanks for coming over and for your interesting comment. Does your friend Vikram blog ? Would love to read what he says.

Totally agree. While corruption might be widespread in other cities, the rapes by the policemen were shameless and pathetic and hung my head low as a Bombayite.

As for Shobaaa De, the less said the better.

Yes, it does make one feel proud that the firangs (whether its the politicians like George W or the many global CEOs who've come to Bombay, Bangalore, etc) are going back with the realisation that India is kicking ass.

As for media growing up...I think I've given up (on them)!, much like I've given up on Go 92.5(am so pissed off at them!!!)

I did not know that was happening... This is just too sad... GO was the one channel that was worth listening too.. (along with 107.1 sometimes).

So now we have 3 all hindi channels, one channel not too good to begin with anyways, AIR, and 107.1

@ Siddharth - thanks for coming over. Yes, It's sad and it sucks. Either we hope someone figures out that there is a market for people like us and launches a new station with English music, or it's back to the Walkman days !

u are absolutely right. i just shifted to the u.k. but while i was there the very image of GO was being ripped to shreds....from the only cool english channel to just another crappy remixing promoting channel....and it all stems from "Good Morning Mumbai"

Hey Samarth - thanks for the comment. I've now pretty much stopped listening to Go, and now I can't even tell the difference between the stations.

And hey - neat changes to your blog dude...altho' thanks to my office policy, I can't view Flickr sites, so all I see are large white spaces on your blog :(
